Guest Bio
Alexis McKeown is a Canadian photographer, specializing in studio work. She has a passion for showing her subjects their true beauty and for creating contemporary, magazine-style portraits for everyday people.
Alexis is inspired by fashion, performance art, classical paintings and sculpture, as well as her love of human faces and form. She is focused on creating portraits with character and depth that tell human stories. The study of light, expression, communication and movement are constantly informing her work.
Alongside her client portraiture, Alexis loves to create photographic art pieces. Working with flowers and food, attempting to preserve and honour some of life’s simple, ephemeral wonders has been a growing part of Alexis’ practice since the beginning of the pandemic. Telling stories in a visual medium is a constant & welcomed challenge for Alexis, both in her personal work and her client work.
